About the Family
A warm Austin family is seeking a long-term nanny who can grow with their family for many years. They currently have an 8-week-old baby girl and hope to welcome 4–5 children relatively close together, with plans for another baby within the next year.
Mom is a SAHM and very hands-on, while Dad works from home. They are looking for someone who is primarily focused on nanny responsibilities but can also step into a family assistant/household manager role as needed. Their goal is to find someone who can become a trusted, long-term part of their family for the next 10 years.
The family has chickens and ducks, so comfort around animals is important.
The Role
The ideal nanny will be warm, proactive, educational, and confident taking the lead when needed while maintaining a collaborative relationship with Mom. This is a family that values open, direct communication and appreciates someone who can anticipate needs without always being asked.
Responsibilities will include:
Providing attentive, nurturing care for baby
Supporting age-appropriate development through play, reading, fresh air, walks, and engaging activities
Washing bottles and maintaining baby’s feeding supplies
Keeping play areas and baby’s spaces tidy
Establishing and maintaining a consistent nap routine as baby grows
Supporting future sleep training
Eventually taking baby to local activities and outings
Helping with family assistant/household management tasks as needed
Driving the family-provided Tesla for outings once appropriate
Ideal Candidate
The family is looking for someone who is:
Experienced with infants and knowledgeable about developmental milestones
Educational and intentional in their approach to childcare
Proactive, organized, and able to take initiative
Comfortable taking the reins when Mom needs support while also working collaboratively with her
Comfortable implementing the family's expectations around manners, boundaries, and discipline
Open to feedback and direct communication
Looking for a long-term commitment and excited to grow with a family
Comfortable traveling with the family
The family follows AAP safe-sleep guidelines, and baby currently sleeps in her crib. They are beginning to establish a nap routine and plan to sleep train as she gets older.
Travel
Travel will be an important part of this position. The family frequently travels to New York City and San Francisco for shorter trips and anticipates longer travel periods of 2–4 weeks at a time, including at least a month during the summer.
The nanny will travel with the family when needed. The family does not plan to leave the baby at home with the nanny while they travel without them.
Family Values
This family has a more traditional, old-school approach to upbringing and places a strong emphasis on manners, values, boundaries, and respectful behavior. They are Jewish and incorporate their faith into their family life without being highly religious.
They are looking for someone who:
Is engaged and present with the baby
Does not use their phone around the baby
Is comfortable with a more traditional approach to childcare and discipline
Does not wear perfume in the home
Communicates openly, directly, and respectfully
